Description

Corduroy Duomo “Vanilla” — a warm, creamy vanilla with slightly darker, sandy grooves between the fine wales, which trace subtle lines across the surface. Light, but warmer than white — it brightens a room and pairs beautifully with brown, caramel and natural wood. It works well as upholstery for a sofa or corner sofa, an upholstered headboard or a pouffe — you’ll find more ideas in our Fabrics for Sofas collection.

About the fabric — Corduroy Duomo

Duomo is a corduroy with a fine, even wale covered in a dense, velvety pile, weighing 310 g/m² (±10 g/m²) according to the supplier’s label. The narrow wales create a calm, refined texture that looks good on large surfaces — the seats and backs of sofas, as well as armchairs, pouffes and headboards — while the soft, warm handle makes the upholstery pleasant to the touch. As with any pile fabric, the pile changes shade depending on the direction of the light — this gives the colours depth, but it also means that all upholstery pieces must be laid in the same pile direction. The line comes in seven colours — vanilla, pink, brick, beige, grey, turquoise and brown — which are easy to combine in one interior, e.g. a sofa in one shade with decorative cushions in another; you’ll find other types in our Corduroy collection. Composition, width and abrasion resistance: no data — ask us. We sell it by the metre: 1 unit = 0.5 m, and several units of the same colour are shipped as one piece.

💚 Order 5 fabric samples for PLN 5 and check the colour, thickness and handle of Duomo corduroy for yourself — ideally in daylight, next to your furniture — before you buy fabric for upholstery. Free DPD delivery within Poland on orders over PLN 150.

Fabric features

  • Fine, even wale — narrow bands of pile separated by delicate grooves create a calm, elegant texture that looks good on large furniture surfaces.
  • Soft, velvety pile — the short, dense nap is pleasant to the touch and gives the upholstery a warm, cosy feel.
  • Weight 310 g/m² (±10 g/m²) — figure from the supplier’s label; a medium-weight fabric with a warm, pleasant handle.
  • Play of light on the pile — the pile changes shade depending on the angle of the light, which gives the upholstery depth and a refined look.
  • Seven colours to combine — vanilla, pink, brick, beige, grey, turquoise and brown; it’s easy to pair, for example, a sofa in one shade with cushions in another.
  • For furniture and decor — works as upholstery for sofas, armchairs, pouffes and headboards, as well as for decorative cushions and throws.
Zastosowanie

Uses — Duomo corduroy in furniture and interiors

  • Sofas and corner sofas — the fine wale looks calm and elegant on the large surfaces of seats and backs; if the piece will be used heavily every day, ask us about the fabric’s specifications before you buy.
  • Armchairs and wingback chairs — the velvety pile accentuates curves and stitching, while the wale clearly traces the lines of the furniture.
  • Pouffes, benches and seats — smaller projects that make it easy to bring a bolder colour accent into a room, e.g. brick or turquoise.
  • Headboards and upholstered wall panels — the ribbed texture adds warmth and cosiness to a bedroom, and light shades make it look brighter.
  • Decorative cushions — a quick way to refresh a sofa or bed; Duomo colours work well together.
  • Throws — a warm, soft throw for a bed or sofa in a colour matched to the upholstery or the cushions.

💡 Upholstery tip: cut all upholstery pieces in the same pile and wale direction, and stretch the fabric evenly so the wales don’t bend at the edges and corners. Before upholstering the whole piece, pin a piece of corduroy in place as a test and look at it in daylight from several sides — the pile changes shade depending on the viewing angle.

Pielęgnacja

Care

  • 🧹 Vacuuming: regularly, with a soft-brush nozzle, gently and in the direction of the pile — this removes dust from the grooves between the wales without tugging at the pile.
  • 💧 Spot cleaning: blot a stain straight away with an absorbent white cloth, pressing rather than rubbing; then wipe it lightly with a slightly damp cloth and a mild cleaner, from the edges towards the centre. Do not soak the upholstery through.
  • 🔍 Test in a hidden spot: always try any cleaning product first on the underside of the seat, the back of the furniture or an offcut of the fabric.
  • ✨ Brushing the pile: once dry, comb the pile with a soft brush in the direction of the nap. You can refresh flattened areas with steam from a steamer held at a distance, without pressing it against the fabric — but only after testing in a hidden spot first.
  • 🏷️ Care symbols: the supplier has not provided care symbols for this fabric, so we do not give any washing, ironing or dry cleaning recommendations. Before washing removable covers, ask us or check how the fabric behaves on an offcut, and leave heavier soiling to a professional upholstery cleaner, telling them it is a pile corduroy.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much Duomo corduroy do I need for an armchair or sofa?

The amount depends mainly on the shape of the furniture and the width of the fabric — and the supplier has not stated the width of Duomo corduroy (no data — ask us). The quantities below are only very rough estimates, typical for upholstery fabrics: pouffe — approx. 1–1.5 m, headboard — approx. 1.5–2.5 m, armchair — approx. 4–7 m, three-seater sofa — approx. 10–15 m. All pieces are cut in the same pile direction, so allow some extra, and ideally ask your upholsterer for an exact calculation before ordering. We sell it in units of 0.5 m (e.g. 10 units = 5 m), and several units of the same colour are shipped as one piece.

What is the abrasion resistance of Duomo corduroy (Martindale test)?

No data — ask us. The supplier has not provided a Martindale test result or pilling information, so we do not state a durability class. If you are upholstering furniture for heavy everyday use — e.g. the main sofa in a home with children or pets — get in touch with us before you buy. For headboards, wall panels and decorative cushions this parameter usually matters less.

Which way should the wale and pile run when upholstering furniture?

The most important thing is that all upholstery pieces have the same pile direction — otherwise neighbouring panels can look like two different shades. The wales usually run vertically on the back and from the back towards the front edge of the seat, and the pile is laid “with the nap” down the back and towards the front of the seat, so that it smooths down when you sit. Before cutting, mark the pile direction with arrows on the reverse of the fabric.

How do I clean furniture upholstered in Duomo corduroy?

For everyday care, vacuuming with a soft-brush nozzle in the direction of the pile is enough. Blot stains straight away with an absorbent cloth, pressing rather than rubbing, then spot clean with a slightly damp cloth and a mild cleaner — always after a test in a hidden spot. Once dry, comb the pile with a soft brush. The supplier has not provided care symbols, so for heavier soiling we recommend a professional upholstery cleaner.

What is the composition and width of Duomo corduroy?

What we know for certain is that Duomo weighs 310 g/m² (±10 g/m²) according to the supplier’s label. Composition, width and flame retardancy: no data — ask us. If you need this information, e.g. to work out how much fabric you need or to upholster furniture for commercial premises, get in touch with us before ordering.

Can I see the colour in person first?

Yes — order 5 fabric samples for PLN 5 and compare several Duomo colours in daylight, next to your furniture, floor and walls. The pile changes shade depending on the viewing angle, so look at the sample from several sides before you order the full length.
