How to sew a lace top?
We would like to show you how to use lace fabric to sew a simple top with kimono sleeves. We prepare the pattern ourselves by tracing another blouse from our wardrobe in such a way that the sleeve is practically rectangular. When it comes to the amount of room on the sides, it depends on the effect we want to achieve, i.e. whether the top should be more or less loose. Due to the fact that fabrics are not as stretchy as knitted fabrics, we must also take into account the appropriate neckline in the design - it cannot be too small, or, for example, we must add a fastening. Fold the fabric in half and in half again and with the folded edge, place the blouse folded in half and outline it. We cut out both parts with the same depth of neckline at the front and back, and then enlarge the armhole at the front so that we can easily put on the top. Pin the cut out back and front pieces together, right sides facing in. Then we sew the shoulders and sides of the top using a machine. The next stage is finishing the neckline, bottom and sleeves. It is worth overcasting the edges before hemming - if possible, we recommend using an overlocker; if you only use a machine, it is best to overcast the edges with a wider zigzag and finish the top with one or two hems.
