To make you realize how easy it is, we will add a short instruction on how to sew a backpack. More detailed tutorials can be found on the Internet.
Step 1
Cut out the following from the fabric:
- 2 rectangles that are the walls of the bag (30x35 cm)
- 2 rectangles to create a tunnel for threading the string (6x30 cm)
- 4 rectangles to create loops for stringing (4x6 cm)
Step 2 - tunnel
The shorter sides of the two rectangles dedicated to the tunnel should be folded up 1 cm and then sewn on the right side of the fabric. Then, using pins, we attach the fragments to the walls of the bag, maintaining equal distances from the edge.
Then sew the fragment to the wall and turn it inside out, fold the rectangle in half and sew it on the machine.
Step 3 – belt loops
Here we use 4 small rectangles. The fragments should be connected from the inside and sewn on 3 sides using the machine. To get rid of excess material, cut the corners diagonally. Then we turn the belt loops right side out. We attach the loops folded in half to the sides of the backpack a few centimeters from the bottom.
Step 4 – sewing the sides of the backpack
Place the walls on top of each other and fasten them with pins. Next, we sew the sides and bottom together.
Step 5 – pulling the strings through.
Insert the string into the tunnel and into the loop. On the other hand, we do the same.
Backpacks are very easy and quick to sew, and the satisfaction from such a backpack is great.
